“A Light in the Darkness: A Story of Hope During the Holocaust" is a full length theatrical drama based on the book,
“The Promise” by Eva Schloss and Barbara Powers.
Eva Schloss and her family fall victim to Hitler’s sweeping rampage of Europe. As with her friend at the time, Anne Frank, Eva’s family goes into hiding to survive the relentless roundup of Jews, who were being deported to concentration camps.
The play tells, in dramatic style, the day to day tribulations experienced while in hiding, their startling capture, their time spent in Auschwitz, and their return home as World War II concludes. It is not the action that drives this play but rather the hope and determination of Eva’s family to survive one of the darkest times in history.
Told through live action, narration and video footage, “A Light in the Darkness: A Story of Hope During the Holocaust" is a lesson to us all.
“A Light in the Darkness A Story of Hope During the Holocaust" will have its World Premier performance on Friday, October 14, 2011 in Youngstown, Ohio at the Victorian Players, 702 Mahoning Avenue.
